BFB Hair Color Matching Review

November 30, 2017

Barefoot Blonde Hair is a line of hair extensions founded by blogger, Amber Fillerup. I have been following her blog for years, and when she launched her extensions a year ago, I was so curious to find out what the quality would be like, what the color selection would be like, and how expensive they would be. I don't want a set of hair extensions, I'm just nosey.

I didn't think there would be any way for me to learn these things without ordering a set, and I can't really afford to spend $200 on curiosity. But, Barefoot Blonde Hair came out with a new option:  a color matching, at-home try on! And it was FREE!! All I had to do was pay shipping ($4). So, today I am going to share my review of the try on experience!

I thought the packaging was super cute!

This was the little envelope that contained the samples. Super colorful and fun!

It came with this little pamphlet with instructions to make sure you pick out the best color and then go buy that color. It says to try it on in natural light and artificial light, which I thought was interesting because I would think natural light would be the only important one. There was a typo on this and my mom is the one who pointed it out! Kind of ruined this little card for me. Prize for whoever finds it!

I picked out five colors:  Melt Down, Brownstone, Peanut Butter and Jealous, Brown Sugar, and Golden Brown

I thought the hair was very soft! I have no idea if it is real or not, but it felt real! It did not have a fake sheen to it, but the finish of the hair was not dull either. The clip that attaches the extension to your hair was firm and sturdy. I do not think you would have to worry about them falling out. I did notice some shedding. I don't know if that is normal or not, but it was only one or two strands out of the five extension wefts (idk which weft) that I received.

Below, I am sharing pictures of four of the extensions in my hair! Three of them are supposed to be the "good" ones and one is supposed to be "bad". Also I apologize for the lighting! The sun was going down so it was always changing. My hair looks straight up red in some of these.

This was the color Brown Sugar

This was the color Peanut Butter and Jealous

This one is the color Melt Down. You honestly can't even see the extension (except for the tag) and I tried to make it stick out like the others! I thought this was the best extension for my hair as it is dark at the roots and lighter towards the bottom.

Ok this was the one that is supposed to not look good. It is the color . And in natural lighting (aka the picture) it actually looks good. But, in indoor lighting it looks terrible! It was way too red for my hair.

The color Brownstone was way too ashy for my hair and I did not take a picture with it. Overall, I feel like the first three shades could work for my hair, with Melt Down being the best one.

Overall, this was such a fun treat to get in the mail! It really made me want extensions, even though I don't need them. If you are thinking about buying some, I think the Barefoot Blonde Hair extensions are a great option and you should definitely do the color matching before placing your order!
