There it is. The New Years Resolution I have been dreading.
Don't get me wrong, I like exercise! I like the way it makes me feel and I like how it improves my health, but the actual act of exercising? Not my favorite. It just pains me how 10 minutes on a treadmill can feel like hours. Anyone else?
So, over the holidays and these past first weeks of the new year, I started playing around with different workouts to find one that didn't make want to crawl in bed and hide under the cover. And I think I've found mine!
But, before I get to that. Is there any better way to motivate yourself to get to the gym than adding new and fun activewear to your wardrobe? I don't think so!
This entire outfit (minus the shoes - similar here) cost me about $65! That is a pretty good deal for a fun pair of leggings, a versatile pullover, a lightweight top, and my favorite sports bra!
This pullover is so functional! I plan on wearing it even when I'm not working out because I love how athleisure is a thing now.
These leggings!! I had my eye on them for weeks and finally had to go for them! I wasn't sure about ordering them because they're from Forever 21. I have had great luck with Forever 21 in the past but I have also ordered a couple of things that I have had to return because the quality was just too poor. I was scared their workout clothes would be similar, but thankfully, I was wrong! I have worn these leggings to exercise in twice now, and I did not have any problems! They stayed tied, they are thick and high quality, they have a dri-fit feel, and I will definitely be ordering other things from Forever 21's athletic line because of them.
Another store with great activewear is Old Navy! It is pretty much always on sale too! That is where this top is from; however, it is only available in stores so I can't link it for you :( But you can head to your closest Old Navy to pick it up or you can click here, here, and here for some other Old Navy tops I have my eye on!
The sports bra I am wearing is my favorite, but it is also sold out :( I love Aerie's sports bras, but I also don't have very much that needs support, so it is kind of hard for me to recommend this to everyone!! This one from Target has sooo many great reviews and it is really cute!
So now that we know what we're going to wear while we workout, let's start talking about the actual work outs. When I workout, I want it to not take too much time and I don't want to sweat too much. But ,I also want to feel like I'm making some progress. One of my favorite ways to do this is by doing 30 minutes of cardio and then a quick YouTube workout! My 30 minutes of cardio usually looks like biking with high resistance or walking up an incline at about 4 mph. This gets my heart pumping and my legs burning!
Freshman year of college I discovered the wonderful world of YouTube workouts. This one was my first and I still do it regularly! My favorite channels to find workouts on are Blogilates, XHIT Daily, and RL Healthy, but out of all of these Blogilates is the winner by far. She has every kind of workout you could ever imagine from beginner to advanced from 5 minutes to 30. I have done A LOT of her videos and I have felt productive after every single one. Some days, if I'm short on time, I'll skip the cardio and do 2 Blogilates videos.
Another workout that I love and is easy to do when you're watching TV (Monday nights with The Bachelor and Tuesday nights This is Us) is:
20 jump squats
30 side lunges
50 donkey kicks
Do 3 times
I'm not really sure where I got this workout, but I have done it for a while! I started just by doing it twice because I couldn't make it three times. I finally got to where I can do it three times, but I'll still be sore the next day!
That's it! How I am trying to stay fit this new year! If you have any favorite workout clothes or workouts (especially YouTube channels) that you would like to share, comment below!
Also, thank you to my boyfriend for taking this pictures!!!
